What do you wish others knew about menopause?

There are plenty of misconceptions and a lot of unknown information about menopause. What's something you wish people understood about the condition, or your personal experience living with it?

  1. That it is so isolating! I don't want to be around people, yet I feel lonely. The withdrawing from doing things and just wanting to be in sweatpants all the time! I feel frumpy, sweaty, bloated, irritable and just all around miserable ! I started on estrogen patch plus progesterone yesterday and can't wait for it to work! Just from the progesterone, I slept like a baby and did not wake up at 3am!!

    1. I hope your new therapy regimen gets you back into the swing of things. Let us know how it goes. Kathy (Team member)

  2. It's a normal continuation of our hormonal life and should have never been/should not be shamed! It irritates me that most people don't realize that 'menopause' indicates a single point in time, and most of our time is spent in perimenopause (pre- and post-). There are health inequities that have arisen b/c of the paucity of data on women, and even more so, perimenopausal women. This needs to be addressed in our society.

    1. Such a good point. I didn't know menopause was different than perimenopause for so many years. It's just not taught!
