Diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in 2002, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus in 2004, and Type 2 diabetes in 2019, Racquel turned years of different diagnoses and near-fatal complications into purpose. Recognizing the lack of awareness and support for Black women, she created Lupus In Color to build community, amplify voices, and promote education and self-advocacy.

A medically retired social worker , teacher and counselor, Racquel is an author, certified meditation facilitator, and patient leader. She works closely with the Lupus Foundation of America as an Ambassador and Regional Support Group Facilitator.

Racquel uses her voice to advance healing, equity, and hope in the lupus and chronic illness community.
